Thanks to our generous community of supporters, the second annual World Whisky Tour presented by the Garcea Group of Companies, on March 5th, 2022 was a resounding success!

While we really wanted this second annual gala to come “off the screen”, the virtual night provided plenty of opportunities for being social in support of a fantastic cause.

This year, we raised money toward the purchase of a new mobile ultrasound for use in the Urgent Care Unit at Seven Oaks. This new machine facilitates easier catheter placement for patients with kidney disease, and allows our Urgent Care team to “see” what is going on inside the patient’s body. As a mobile device, it provides quicker care at the point of care — no need to transfer patients to diagnostic imaging!

With fantastic wine and food pairings, exciting silent auction prizes, and an amazing education on how to taste and enjoy whisky courtesy of Host Joe Aiello, co-host Darren Raeside and a team of whisky experts including Rachel MacNeill, John McCheyne, and Bryan Simpson, it was a night to remember.

Our guests had the chance to meet one of SOGH’s very own patients – Karmen Omeasoo – who lives with chronic kidney disease. His story, along with a message from Dr. Rob Bohemier, Medical Director of Urgent Care inspired guests to support the new ultrasound.
